AI Code Editor
Cursor
An AI-first code editor that predicts your next edit and writes whole functions from a plain-English instruction.
Why It’s Worth Discovering
Cursor is a fork of VS Code with AI woven directly into the editing experience, so instead of copy-pasting code between a chat window and your editor, you can describe a change in plain English and watch it get applied directly across your files.
What You Can Use It For
- Generating and editing code across multiple files from a single instruction
- Getting AI-powered bug detection and fixes as you type
- Using natural language to navigate and understand an unfamiliar codebase
How to Get Started
- Download Cursor at cursor.com
- Import your VS Code settings and extensions
- Use the built-in AI chat or inline edit to start generating code

Key Features
Advantages & Limitations
Advantages
- AI assistance feels native to the editor rather than a separate tool
- Familiar VS Code foundation means minimal learning curve
- Strong reputation specifically among professional developers, not just hobbyists
Limitations
- Heavier AI usage can get expensive on larger, long-running sessions
- Best value requires some comfort with coding fundamentals already
Worth switching to specifically if you’re tired of pasting code back and forth between a chat window and your editor — this closes that gap directly.
